Baseball Staff

JASON HIRSH

Former MLB Pitcher

  • Was a 2nd round pick by the Houston Astros from Division III California Lutheran University, becoming the 4th highest D3 draft pick ever.

  • Made history by being named Texas League and Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Year in consecutive seasons and was the 2006 Organizational Pitcher of the Year for the Houston Astros.

  • In 2007, Jason was traded to the Colorado Rockies and became a key starter for the National League Champions.

  • Currently, he is a managing partner at FAST Performance, overseeing the Athlete Development Program, and serves as the varsity pitching coach for Mullen High School (CO), overseeing the organization’s throwing programs.

COLE THOMAS

Lead Throwing Instructor

  • Attended Douglas County HS before continuing his playing career at Cloud County (CC) and then Concordia University (NAIA)

  • Holds certifications in Driveline Foundations of Pitching and Pitch Design as well as being certified with OnBaseU

  • Incredibly proficient using Trackman and communicating data to athletes in an easy to understand format.

  • Former High School pitching coach at Denver East and Bear Creek

  • Has a background of knowledge in strength and conditioning, mobility and best nutritional practices for developing athletes.

CHAD BELL

HITTING AND CATCHING INSTRUCTOR

  • Born and raised in Fort Collins CO. Graduated Rocky Mountain High School in 2015 then played college baseball at Western Nevada (JuCo) and Louisiana Monroe (Division 1).

  • Set the single-season home run record at ULM in 2019 which led to 1st team All-Conference and 1st team All-Region selections.

  • Was drafted in the 2019 MLB draft by the New York Yankees. Made it all the way to AAA before retiring in 2023.

  • Experienced hitting instructor of all-ages with knowledge that I have learned over the years from playing with some of the best players in the world.

BROOKS BENSON

HITTING INSTRUCTOR

  • Raised in Parker CO. Attended Chaparral HS before attending Garden City (CC), then Nebraska-Kearney (D2), and finally Southwestern Oklahoma State (D2)

  • All-Conference Outfielder for Garden City where in 2016 he helped them finish 45-17 completing one of the greatest seasons ever in the history of GCCC.

  • Played in the Independent Leagues for the Monterey Amberjacks, BlackSox and the Idaho Falls Chukars.

  • Currently FAST’s director of hitting where he brings lots of knowledge and enthusiasm to the game for the next generation of players. 

Performance Staff

JOEL RAETHER

MAED, CSCS *D, TSAC-F *D, RSCC*D

  • Managing partner at FAST Performance and is the 2020 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Professional Coach of the Year.

  • Coached numerous Olympians, over 10 NCAA National Champions, All-Americans, league MVPs, and All-Pros.

  • Director of Sports Performance for the Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse team since 2007 and has extensive coaching experience, including roles at the University of Denver and the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

  • Highly sought-after presenter, providing education and training to sport coaches, personal trainers, sport performance coaches, tactical athletes, and tactical facilitators globally.

JOHN “JC” COLE

CSCS*D, RSCC*D, XPS

  • Managing partner at FAST Performance, overseeing education and strategic partnerships, with a client list that includes olympic athletes like Mikaela Shiffrin and Lindsey Vonn.

  • One of the few trainers globally to have completed all four phases of the Athlete’s Performance Institute (EXOS) Mentorship Program.

  • Holds certifications in Functional Movement Screening, TRX, Power Plate, and USA Weightlifting, and was instrumental in building the Minturn Fitness Center and its staff-wide education program.

  • Frequently speaks at national and international conferences on strength and power training, including the 2014 NFL Combine and the 2016 Olympic Oval event in Vancouver.

LIAM MURRAY

CSCS

  • Colorado Native as former student trainee of FAST Performance. Attended North Park College (IL) where he graduated with a BS in Exercise Science and received a Masters in Business Administration.

  • Coaching experience includes time as a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach at his alma mater from March 2022 – May 2023 leading team training for mens and women’s golf, and assisting with baseball, football, and both basketball and soccer teams.

  • Sports performance intern at the University of Denver from June-December, 2023 working primarily with College & Pro-Alumni Hockey, Men’s Lacrosse, and Men’s Basketball
